hi again!! i know i draw patty in a lot of casual clothes so i wanted to try and actually experiment with her costuming, and give her some actual devil hunter attire. enjoy :^D!!!!

below are some alternative versions + some notes on my design and thought process, if anyone's interested :^) !!!!

I had so much fun designing these outfits for her. I made a lot of alternative color versions, not all of them made it here. I designed 2 outfits and 3 hairstyles for her, as well as her guns. (note: this is mostly an exercise in character costuming)

Some things I wanted to keep in mind when designing (or rather, costuming) her was:

keeping in line with the general aesthetics of the DMC series + imagining my own take on an adult Patty, which we've only seen as a kid in the anime thus far.

I wanted her adult design to be chic, modern, and as practical as possible while still preserving a sense of fashion, and make her recognizably 'Patty'.

I didn't want to make her fashion too similar to how it appears in the show, since she's like 9-10 and for me it didn't make much sense for her to dress the same as she did when she was a kid haha

maintaining a limited palette of blacks, browns, pinks, and reds

adding my own personal style and tastes for fun :^)

this is such a little thing, but her voice cameo in dmc5 came off a little bit valleygirl-esque to me? very stereotypical teen girl, so I went with a very high femme aesthetic to try and match that energy a little bit.

for her guns: I wanted to ofc reference Dante & Trish with ther respective handguns. But I did take a few pages from Bayonetta's book and gave her little gun charms. (i do think if she were a playable character, she would have similar game play to V maybe?)

1st design (alt colors) :

For this take, I wanted something that was both chic and slightly grungy and more aligned with what the other devil hunter characters wear- lots of leather! Generally speaking, the dmc characters have rather limited palettes, so I didn't want to go overboard with my color choices. i dabbled a little bit with giving her pink accents, as we see her in pink a considerable amount in the show. I referenced Dante and Lady's designs a lot for this particular look, for things like the leather boots and jacket. I think this outfit is a little bit less practical, but I think it's a little bit more in line with the actual character designs of dmc5 in particular.

2nd design (alt colors) :

for this second look I wanted something a little bit more practical and refined. I took a lot of inspiration from other adult patty designs ive seen on here !! as well as more inspiration from her anime appearance for this look. I wanted something a little bit more gothic and "straight-edged", and I accidentally designed a very 70's two piece set, haha. Again, maintaining the same limited color palette as before. This design has a lot less accent colors and is a little bit more cohesive, tried to avoid making a bland design, which i hope was successful!

Execution Suit Reference

For the character outfit sheet, I was debating whether I wanted to do Vil or Idia— given they had the most roles in the comic. I ended up choosing Vil since he was the one with the first whole outfit reveal, and I gave him a different hairstyle. I hadn’t thought too hard of which of the 21 would have different hairstyles, could be all of them, but at the same time… I want the element of recognizability. The whole premise is for them to be dressed up for murder (hypothetically), and the outfits are all based on a simulation of if they were to kill.

If you like this, I’m sorry. Personally, I really liked this design too but then the solid colour bodysuit reminded me too much of Squid Game 💀💀 I did consider keeping their school uniforms and just popping in the collar, but I AM NOT DRAWING ALL THAT IF I’M DOING THIS ALL BY MYSELF 💥💥 Also, yes, that’s Idia hehe- It was fitting since he’d recognize what a killing game is 💀

The vibe with the current Execution Suit design is a mix of asylum chic and fisherman. There isn’t an official “femme” version but if one’s dedicated enough, they could either use magic to alter the suit slightly or rip the pants to make a skirt 💀. Personally, I prefer a more uniform look to add into the dehumanization/deindivualization aspect of it all (ofc there will always be characters who alter if they can and get away with it jfjfjfjfj).

-Does anyone else notice that Taurus in the big 6 (but even more in the big 3) gives people a square/sturdy look about them.? Their head or their hair or even their hands or their torso (more rectangular but ykno same rule applies) some physical aspect of them tends to be squared off.

butch that takes care of lottie when she inevitably hurts her ankle :( she's been so stressed practicing for the big competition, always staying late at the rink and telling you that she'll be home soon, but when she does, it's usually in the early hours of the morning. you had to go and pick her up one time because a security guard found her passed out on the benches. she doesn't look that well the day of the comp, and you tell her there's nothing wrong with dropping out. but she's a perfectionist when it comes to her skating, and she won't back down. she ends up fainting and lands on her ankle in the worst way possible, and your heart stops when her body just thuds against the ice. you run onto the ice, trying your best not to fall as you slide up to her body. you're there with her all the way as the paramedics put her on the stretcher, when she wakes up and calls out for you, and when she's in the ambulance to the hospital. you end up taking a few games off just to take care of her :( it makes her feel just a lil bit better when you call her your femme princess because you carry her everywhere :)

and ofc she takes care of you when you get hurt because you get into a lot of fights.. she wont even lie, she's kind of on the sidelines, egging you on to punch someone because it's hot seeing you fight. not when you get seriously hurt though. she loves being a caring femme and wipes the blood off your nose with her shirt sleeve, always mumbling that you should've hit them harder..

Headcannons!

Some other ships apart from megop that exist in this au: Blitzbee, Jazzprowl, and Skystar

The high guard are all connected through a major com, which Soundwave uses in the morning to blast some old school Cybertronian beats to help the bots wake up early and to get his own morale up. The first time Megatron wakes up from it, it scares the fuck out of him. He might have accidently punched Starscream out of adrenaline when the other mech woke up beside him confused-

Megatron can never predict when Megatronus's spark speaks to him. It's a hit-or-miss situation on his side. He sometimes gets found by the other Decepticons talking and, sometimes, yelling to himself in anger, and it confuses everyone.

Megatronus will occasionally watch from afar Megatron suffering, and sometimes laughs at him for his minor mistakes, which only encourages more yelling from Megatron.

Similar to Megatron's TCog, the other TCogs and the matrix also act similar! So Solus Prime would talk to Elita and Onyx Prime would talk to B-127 (I don't remember exactly what cogs they were given tbh-). The matrix acts as a hub spot, where all the Primes gather and discuss with each other and Optimus. Note: none of the primes know that Megatronus can communicate with Megatron, and assume his cog was lost to the pit. Optimus does not know about this either.

The Decepticons don't fight the Quintessons often. If they show up near their location they'll fight, but otherwise keep to themselves. Same as the Autobots after Megatron saw how ruthless they would be against the Decepticons.

Megatronus's spear isn't used by Megatron. With Megatronus's help he'd find it with the other Primes corpses, have it repaired with Shockwave's help and even alter it to become more easier to carry, since the spear is both heavier and bigger than Megs. He only sees it as a backup, and keeps it transformed as a small pocket-sized tube to keep at his side. He prefers to be at a distance from the battlefield to strategize better.

Sentinel's frame was smelted and forced into a grisly statue laying at the feet of a statue of Optimus Prime, and it placed in the central area of Iacon. It's meant to acknowledge the sol that the "true Prime" reclaimed Iacon, as well as a morbid message to any rebellious bots who might try to go against him what the consequences may be.

Any mech or femme who tries to leave Iacon to join the Decepticons in secret have to escape Jazz and Prowl. Live or die, it matters not. Regardless of the outcome, your existence in Iacon will cease to exist. You will be considered a 'missing mech' or considered an enemy to the peace Optimus brought. So far, only Blitzwing has actually managed to escape them with some injuries, and that was with Bee's help.

Optimus knows how his words can get any mech to follow him if he says the right ones. This is how he keeps the people of Iacon under his whim, and focuses on the people's needs often to keep up the image. Remember, his original dream was that all were treated equal. And he is going to fulfill it as a Prime, and make sure all bots are treated equally. Under him, where they belong.

Optimus still cares about Megatron, but in a possessive way. To him, he only sees his D-16 reframed and misguided by the Seeker Starscream's words, and kept hidden by the high guard. He regrets banishing his old companion, and will go on secret missions while leaving Elita in temporary control to seek out the Decepticons location to steal Megatron and force him to follow their ways, just as D-16 would do back then.

Addition to that hc^- He keeps a bust of D-16 in his private room (don't ask how he got it or who made it, they died after making it) and often talks to the bust like it was D-16, which confuses the other Primes at times, and Megatronus often questions what Megatron actually sees in him.

Megatron sees how many of the Decepticons need repairs, and figures out that the cyberdeer are very useful for scrap. He understands the idea of overhunting, and instead creates an area for them to specifically live within the hidden location of the Decepticons. He keeps a few in farther locations around the location to act as signals, and had Soundwave take care of the ones farther away, since he knows how much the mech enjoys the creatures

Addition to that^- Shockwave keeps Soundwave away when they are needed for scraps and actively lie to him that they freed them elsewhere to prevent him from crying. When Thundercracker told him the truth he didn't leave his berth for a good cyber-week before Rumble and Frenzy convinced him to. He forever holds it against them whenever he has the chance.

This is based off of this hc (angsty and I had a whole convo about this-) - to summarize, it was fate that D-16 died, if only to push Orion to become the Prime he was meant to be and continue Primus's Legacy, but the return of Megatron causes a shift in this 'fate,' and while Primus himself can't actually try to have him killed, but implement that mindset to some of the Autobots to keep fate balanced, and to ensure Optimus stays on the path he was given as Prime instead of wanting Megatron.

Bee's descent to becoming Goldbug isn't a pretty one. Optimus gave him 3 strikes, and he lost every one when it came to helping Megatron escape Optimus and helping Blitzwing despite his orders.

Elita acts 100% like Starscream when Optimus doesn't return within a sol. When Optimus returns she acts like she was just keeping things under control for him. Optimus knows, but he doesn't mind, since not much changes, and she only acts like this in his absence.

Skyfire was a Decepticon, and had left with the high guard in the beginning, before eventually leaving and becoming an Autobot to protect his and Starscream's sparkling because they would have a better future in Iacon than on the surface

The Decepticons get extremely protective for Megatron after finding out he was sparked, and Optimus was the sire. Starscream and Soundwave always make sure he's kept comfortable and safe and hidden from both the Autobots and quints.

The moment Optimus learns that Megs is sparked, he gets more ruthless in battle, and will tear apart any mech who fails to find Megs by now.

Everyone’s allowed to feel how they feel about K. You do not HAVE to like K. K is an imagination people and does not matter compared to reality people.

The actual problems that I think all this discourse is stemming from is a problem in not just fandom here but in fandom as a whole. It’s a problem of trends: Why is our attention so frequently held by the masculine and white? Why, when we expand the world and look into the interiority of side characters, is our focus so targeted on white men? Why are women so overlooked, why are people of color so often ignored?

This is a wider issue. A trickling down of real world racism affecting our little play spaces. And the problem is that an issue which appears in larger trends, an issue that is a general pattern of behavior, is not easy to fix. We can’t fix this by harassing individual people. We can’t fix this by ignoring it. We definitely can’t fix it by pretending like its a problem here and only here rather than everywhere.

I wouldn’t be so bitter about K and dislike of K if I wasn’t overly sensitive to the idea of POC and femme characters getting the short end of the stick. I wouldn’t be so apprehensive about SamEvan, which is a frankly adorable and lovely ship, if I could trust people in general to act right about black women. I wouldn’t be so mad when people call Jammer and his friends rude while ignoring anything Evan did if I hadn’t seen it as the start of a malicious pattern.

If I hadn’t been in fandoms where every single woman got called a Hideous Bitch and every single person of color was Secretly Evil then I wouldn’t even be posting this. If I hadn’t seen people latch onto men with three lines and refuse to even consider thinking about women with entire arcs, I wouldn’t care about the lack of K posts. It would just be opinion. But it’s not just opinion when it happens over and over again to the same kinds of characters every time.

I don’t think it’s that bad in the mismag fandom. I don’t WANT it to get that bad here. But I don’t know how else to stop it, so I type up little confessions, and I hope someone reads them and thinks about this shit a little bit before they post.

I think people should calm down and stop insulting each other. I think people should take a break, if they need one, from fandom. I think people should leave each other alone and quit passive aggressively throwing ‘shade’ at opinions they don’t like because there is NOTHING wrong with individual opinion. There IS something wrong with the pattern its a part of but you can’t blame a person for a pattern you see in them or else you’ll end up snapping at a monster that isn’t even there yet.

Most of what I want is for people to think about how they think. Nobody has to stop liking Evan (ofc) but it is and should be concerning that even in this relatively progressive space, I keep seeing the same patterns creep their subtle and insidious way into the things I love.

because I couldn’t get the idea of La Femme Spectre Helen out of my head

notes, close-ups, and sketch under the cut!

i was talking w birdie about how we would reintroduce Helen from the Spectre 2001 timeline back into main GL comics, and we thought it’d be cool if Helen got her reality warping powers back and called herself La Femme Spectre (as a legacy thing, not bc she holds the Spectre, bc i’m think the actual Spectre is Jim Corrigan again rn and he’s also maybe at god level so he can’t be a main character???).

We were thinking smth, like, Monsieur Stigmonus is back and he’s trying to threaten the world so that Helen would remember the pre-Johns timeline and he could hasten the bad half of her destiny, and it turns out that Materna Minxx purposefully blocked Helen’s memories of that timeline because she didn’t want Helen to have those powers in the new timeline without the protection of Spectre Hal and is also maybe disguising herself as Janice Jordan.

ANYWAYS. Notes for my design of La Femme Spectre!Helen:

- i ofc wanted to take inspiration from both Hal’s “main” Spectre form and his La Femme Spectre variant, which is mainly shown here in the green cloak, the flame pin on her forehead, and the heart-shaped mask

- i also wanted to do a callback to Helen’s iconic nightgown from The Spectre 2001, so i HC that after she’s brought to the Geoff Johns timeline and forgot what happened in Spectre01, she still had that nightgown and could never let go of it even when she outgrew it, so she upcycled it into a cute dress. I also like to HC that Helen gets into fashion and textiles, so that also fits with that <3

- purple shoes and the insides of her pink dress to reference Materna’s influence on her

- I was waffling on what color to do for her pants and dress pockets since I wanted them to be the same color and landed on just keeping it white because I feel like it gives her the slightest bit of a ghostly vibe/edge

- light green bracelet to 1) remind u that she might be a teenager but she’s still a kid and 2) perhaps be a connection to her favorite uncle…

- also. Who is the letterer of the spectre01 i just wanna talk. that shit was genuinely the hardest part of drawing this, was copying the lettering for la femme spectre.

-so yeah anyways she loves suits. u could be doing your groceries and randomly find this renowned writer wearing the most annoyingly extra suit u have ever seen in ur life.

-and the very few times she is not wearing one (mostly when she is supposed to be chilling at home) she still dresses up like a rich man. as a fun fact, the outfit pictured above is inspired by smth usagi actually wears in the manga jdhsjdhshh

-if she ever wears a dress its only for an extremely formal event that isaka forced her to go to. And ofc it IS something too fancy

-pretty much her entire wardrobe is way too expensive….. and also its huge

-also she likes wearing heels bc she likes being taller than she already is (very much so…..) and she is surprisingly good at walking with them for someone who hates going outside

-her hair always looks the same bc she may not be lazy enough to put on full makeup and dress like she came out straight from a snobby men fashion show somewhere expensive every single day….. but she is too lazy to do her hair.

-killer bod somehow? and will make sure to use it against misakis ~composed japanese woman~ facade at any given opportunity :)

-very much into dark plain colors, mostly bc she likes keeping things simple when it comes to clothing. this accidentally makes her look a little bit more intimidating than she actually is tho ;p

-wears sweaters most of the time bc they are comfy and other stuff is a lil harder to find in her size xd

-on a related note, shes not much into shopping bc most stuff she tries fits weird one way or another, so her wardrobe is rather limited (ALTHOUGH hiro is working on expanding it a lil bit 🤞she often gifts her clothing on special occasions, and seems to be the only person who can actually pick stuff that fits her right :3)

-she is hugeeee as already implied xdxd very broad shouldered and fit and muscular (not exaggerated but its definitely there) and strong and and and……… i would even go as far as to keep the canon height (1.86 m if im not mistaken????). Naturally the difference between her and the average japanese woman (hell, even between her and other characters considered “tall” in this au) is waaaay more noticeable, so it draws even more attention

(-from here on i will be using nowaki as a reference to talk about a characters height…..)

-very neat when it comes to her work clothes, but likes to decorate her lab coat with pins and such bc her patients seem to like it :)

-also i dont remember if its ever stablished what happened to the flower shop job but id like to believe she gets to keep it, at least as a weekends thing or smth,, (nowaki seemed to enjoy it idk idk :”3)

-milf. Not in the “older woman with ginormous sex appeal” way, but because she literally looks like someones mom

-(actually, its not rare for people to take her for shinobus mother when they go out together, even if they dont look alike in the slightest jsjsjs this is a bit more comprehensible bc in this au they do have the ages to be mother and daughter (21 and 42), but booooy does shinobu get defensive about it…..)

-quite feminine, but still tries to remain comfortable most of the time (so mostly pants, loose blouses, etc etc)

-has a thing for patterns, specially florals, and specially very colorful or elaborated ones :)

-wears heels often (she likes them ✊)….. and wonders why her back hurts….

-shinobu likes to gift her jewelry :D her earrings remain the same tho bc it hurts to put them back on (i swear it does!!!!!)

-kinda skinny and just slightly taller than the average woman

-very short hair for easy maintenance mostly

-killer skincare routine, but mostly bc shinobu is a little annoying about her aging properly and shares with her a lot of her own stuff xd

-kind of old fashioned???? I mean most of the references i used seemed to be from like the 70s so ig….

-very feminine, but in a rich (isakas courtesy) church lady kind of way. So very long skirts, high-collared shirts or straight up turtlenecks, thighs….

-to this day isaka remains the only person to have ever seen her bare ankles in the past 20 (or so?) years

-very tall. To the point of not looking like a gremlin next to nowaki at least

-she is also very skinny tho, so in a way she does end up looking quite small in comparison xd

-the scar on her face is bc of the car accident (coughmurdersuicideattemptcough) as a child :) it is mostly hypertrophic scars from the glass and debris falling on her and some burnt skin too, and she cant feel or move that side of her face as much as normal (hence the ever lasting lack of expression…..). It doesn’t look as obvious as i made it seem tho, that was mostly to bring out the fact that its there xd I would love to make a more detailed post about it if only i could draw…….

-the exact same hair and extremely similar silhouette in every look is not a lack of creativity, but a show of how she always strives for consistency and balance and neatness (…..it may be a lack of creativity…..)

-has very beautiful hair and will make sure everyone notices it(hence why she never puts it up even if she somehow styles it…)

-quite tall. not to the point of not looking ridiculous next to nowaki, but its a highlight

-also has the body of a greek goddess statue and yuu is very much obviously obsessed with it :)
